Structural Movement Monitoring
Based on traditional surveying techniques, deformation monitoring of structures has always been a fundamental activity of our company. As a result we are proud of our continuing involvement with the redevelopment of both Liverpool and Manchester and the preservation and refurbishment of historic structures throughout the UK.
Historic & Listed Building Surveying
Most commonly, our surveyors have been called upon to monitor historic and listed buildings during major renovation works, either in relation to the buildings entirety or on selected, retained elevations. Monitoring is also increasingly specified for bridges, aqueducts, church spires, dock walls and dockside structures which are suspected of distortion.
Moving on from the monitoring of discrete points on a structure, advances in laser scanning and associated processing software now enable us to record entire structures in high detail. Successive surveys will therefore identify precise regions of deformation.
Given the range of solutions available, we recommend clients to call and discuss their requirements in detail.

Building Movement Monitoring
Structural Movement Monitoring plays a vital role across a diverse range of industries to ensure the safety, stability, and longevity of various structures.
It is crucial in construction and civil engineering for monitoring buildings, bridges, and tunnels; in mining and quarrying to assess mine and land stability; within the oil, gas, and energy sectors for the structural integrity of offshore platforms and pipelines; and in transportation to ensure the reliability of infrastructure like railways and airports.
Additionally, it supports real estate and property management by detecting potential subsidence, aids in the conservation of historical buildings and monuments, assists geotechnical and environmental efforts in monitoring geological hazards, and ensures the operational stability of utilities, public services, and industrial machinery.
This wide application underscores its importance in mitigating risks, maintaining safety, and adhering to regulatory standards across global industries.
