Surveying a Reservoir
When the amendments to the Reservoir Act 1975 came into play, many owners and operators of past exempt reservoirs awaited the outcome. Previously, dammed or bunded reservoirs of less than 25,000 cubic metres of capacity are exempt from the expensive provisions of this Act. Still, proposals to reduce this figure to 10,000 cubic metres became law. Due to this, many more people will be required to engage the services of a registered ‘Panel Engineer.
Surveying and quantifying
Accordingly, Survey Operations had increased enquiries to survey and quantify reservoir volumes accurately. It appeared close to the expected 10,000 cubic metre limit. Our highly experienced team of surveyors and CAD personnel were able to cope with the increase in workload. We have the UK’s largest dedicated inland hydrographic team, so we didn’t have a problem.
